Pirates Provincial Competition A Teams
Registration is now well underway, and it looks like we are going to meet or surpass last year numbers. As we get closer to the start of the season, we are making preparations to select teams that will represent Eastern Passage at the A-level 2025 Nova Scotia Baseball Provincials in August.
Tryouts
Tryouts for our teams will start in April. Some levels as early as April 12th. Due to the requirement to pick our teams prior to the fields opening we will need to explore other options for the tryouts such as gyms and all-weather fields. This will come at a cost.
Each age level 11U, 13U, 15U will receive an email from the Provincial Head Coach with amplifying details (Tryout Cost, Tryout Dates/Location, projected team costs, expectations, etc). These emails will not come out all at once, coaches are currently busy securing tryout locations.
18U
Unfortunately, there is not enough players in 18U to make 2 teams. We have discussed with DDMBA and we will be creating a full 18U A team by using players from the Pirates, and other organizations players that have paid for the Arrows tryouts but don’t make AA or AAA. This will leave us with 1 18U Rec team. With only 1 18U Rec team we will not be entering a Provincial Team for this level. We understand this will be disappointing for some players.
Commitment
These teams could be a large commitment. Each team will have a practice weekly on Sunday Evenings (Starting later in May). Players are expected to attend. The teams will play in 6 Bluenose League games, could play in additional tournaments, participate in fundraising. If your player is coming to the tryouts the coaches will assume the player and their parents are accepting the commitment to the team.
Thank you,
Your Pirates Executive Committee
